Traffic light status (TLS) explained:
- Green: Routine prescribing within licensed indication
- Amber 1: specialist recommendation followed by GP initiation and continuation
- Amber 2: specialist or GP initiation in line with local guideline after 1st line failure followed by GP continuation
- Amber 3: specialist initiation and stabilisation followed by GP continuation
- Amber SCG: specialist initiation and stabilisation followed by GP continuation in line with an agreed shared care guideline
- Red: Hospital or specialist prescribing only
6.1 Antidiuretic hormone disorders
6.1.1 Diabetes insipidus
Desmopressin
- Tablets 100 micrograms, 200 micrograms
- Nasal spray 10 micrograms per metered spray
- Injection 4 micrograms in 1mL, 15 micrograms in 1mL
Chlortalidone (Amber 2)
- Tablets 50mg
Vasopressin
- Injection 20 units/mL
6.1.2 Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH)
Tetracyclines
Demeclocycline hydrochloride
- Capsules, 150mg
Selective vasopressin V2-receptor antagoinsts
Tolvaptan
- Jinarc® tablets 30mg, 90mg
Notes:
- Use as per Clinical Commissioning Policy: Tolvaptan for hyponatraemia secondary to the Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone (SIADH) in patients requiring cancer chemotherapy (Dec 2016)
